Marouane Fellaini will meet with Arsenal this month to discuss a move

While United want to sign him to a new contract―manager Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Belgian―the former Everton man has made a decision to keep his options open as he wants to be a regular starter.

Reports in France suggest that Arsenal are scheduled to meet with Marouane Fellaini this week over a potential free transfer.

The Belgian international's representatives are all set to meet Arsenal officials to discuss a proposed switch this summer, despite an offer from his current employers which it seems he is unlikely to sign.

Arsenal will surely have to improve on Fellaini's contract worth £80,000-a-week, that he has turned down at United.

Fellaini, who is part of Belgium's World Cup squad, joined United from Everton in 2013 but has failed to hold down a regular place in recent times.

Earlier this week, The Sportsman reported that new Gunners manager Unai Emery is interested in making the Utd midfielder his first signing at the Emirates.

Arsenal are on a tight budget this summer after spending big on Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season.

The 30 year old Belgian has proven to be a useful player to have amongst the ranks, but the Brazilian Fred's arrival at Old Trafford will mean he's pushed further down the pecking order or surplus to requirements.

Fellaini has also been linked to Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
