Sajoh said the blast occurred in Kasuwan Gwanjo (second hand clothes market) and a mosque within the market.
Many people were said to have lost their lives during the unfortunate incident, which occurred on Tuesday as workers across the country mark their day.
Abdullahi Yerima, police commissioner in Adamawa state, said a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the mosque at about 1pm (12:00 GMT) and a second bomber exploded a device 200 metres away as worshippers fled, Reuters news agency reported.
Isa Danladi who resides in the area said: "Many people died on the spot and several others were taken to hospital with severe injuries".
Explosions in and around a mosque in Adamawa state has killed at least 27 people on Tuesday, a hospital official said.
It could be recalled that in November past year there was a bomb blast in Arhankulu area of Mubi where several were killed.
