Best Buy will exclusively sell new Amazon Fire smart TVs

Amazon and Best Buy announced their exclusive multi-year partnership today which will bring the new Fire TV Edition Smart TVs to Best Buy in the United States and Canada.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly revealed the partnership on Tuesday at a Best Buy store in Bellevue, Wash.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos boasted that the new TVs will "deliver lovely visuals and all the movies and TV shows you love, with an experience that gets better every day with Alexa".

The new televisions will come with Fire TV built in, so streaming content can be searched and executed by voice through Amazon Alexa.

For those that already own an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or similar speaker, Fire TV Edition models can be controlled from the full range of existing Alexa devices. Having these TVs available in Best Buy stores and on the company's website will help Amazon get Fire TV in front of more people at a time when Roku is a popular name in the streaming space.

Each of the TVs will also have Alexa voice assistant capabilities built-in.

While Amazon and Best Buy both sell a lot of TVs online, he said consumers still like going to physical stores to make such purchases, a significant acknowledgment from one of the world's richest men who has made much of his fortune from selling products online.

It will continue to add new Alexa skills, software features, and applications to the smart TV platform after launch to provide even more value for money to customers. The two companies are now joining forces to sell new Fire TV Edition smart TVs in a rather interesting arrangement.

At first glance, the partnership seems one-sided in favor of Amazon, but it appears to be a good deal for Best Buy, too. Customers can learn more at www.bestbuy.com/FireTVEdition or www.amazon.com/FireTVEdition. The products will be available in the USA and Canada starting this summer.
