A Quiet Place writers considered pitching movie as a Cloverfield sequel

Before "A Quiet Place", he famously exercised his acting chops as Jim Halpert from "The Office" and flexed his directorial muscles on "The Hollars".

It also turns out that the need for quiet can permeate an audience so deeply, that loud noises still shake them after the movie is over. Quite honestly many horror movies are created to make people scream even if the intent to avoid the killer or the monsters is to remain quiet in the hopes that they'll leave and go seek mayhem elsewhere.

"A Quiet Place" is centered around a simple and captivating idea: What would it be like to live in a world where silence was the only way to stay alive? Now might be a good time for us to check out Krasinski's first real writing gig. I found it hard to breath while watching this, and was on the verge of screaming, "look behind you!" Unable to avoid the trappings of a small town, he now tells the story of a man that returns home after learning his mother has fallen ill.

John Krasinski's A Quiet Place may be mostly silent, but it's earning some very loud reactions on social media.

As for fellow new release Blockers, the movie sold about 2.2 million tickets, which makes it the biggest comedy debut of the year so far. While the movie's "B" CinemaScore isn't great, we can probably expect it to do well even as colleges get back from spring break.

The Platinum Dunes heads Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form

Writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods revealed that during development, they themselves considered pitching A Quiet Place as a movie taking place within the Cloverfield universe. After his two prior backstage efforts, it would take the ultimate casting for Krasinski to get one last chance.

The film, which cost an estimated $17 million, also stars Emily Blunt ("Sicario", "The Devil Wears Prada"), Krasinski's wife, and is the first Paramount title to outperform expectations since Jim Gianopulos took over the studio a year ago. Saturday was as fruitful with $19.1 million, add to that the Sunday estimate of $11.8 million and A Quiet Place will come pretty close to a $50 millionopening weekend. So I don't even know if this is something that he would want.

"A Quiet Place" is now playing at UA Berkeley 7. The movie is unlike everything people have seen. If it can attain the same $100+ million, Krasinski might get a future chance at awards contention. The Warner Bros' film has been a strong contender overseas, where it has made $294.4-million.

According to the Platinum Dunes heads Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller, the producers behind the hit movie, the test screening of "A Quiet Place" was more excruciating than usual because the computer-generated monsters from the special-effects house Industrial Light & Magic weren't ready.
