Joel Embiid ruled out for Sixers' road trip with unclear prognosis

Embiid collided with teammate Markelle Fultz going after a loose ball during the second quarter of the Sixers' win over the New York Knicks, and the team announced Thursday that Embiid is in concussion protocol and will require surgery to fix an orbital fracture.

ESPN's Zach Lowe reported that, pending the results of the surgery, Embiid could return in two to four weeks.

The Sixers confirmed Thursday that Embiid has a concussion and an orbital fracture of his left eye.

Therefore, when he collided with rookie Markelle Fultz on Wednesday night, the entire Sixers fanbase and the National Basketball Association community as a whole held their collective breaths as the big man hit the floor.

Will tariffs against Chinese goods spark trade war?
But in a surprise move, Mr Trump said he was only willing to give the bloc a temporary reprieve, until May 1. China quickly responded with tariffs of its own that will hit U.S. imports worth $ 3 billion .

Although Embiid passed initial concussion tests and x-rays at the arena were negative, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice reports that a concussion or facial injury has not been ruled out at this point. The 24-year-old is averaging 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 blocks this season, earning his first all-star nod and defensive player of the year consideration. The crowd immediately reacted as Embiid fell to the floor and lie there for the remainder of the play. Both of these seem to be positive news for the team, but his status is up in the air, and Embiid's own post-game comment caused some more concern.

The Philadelphia 76ers may have to navigate at least the first round of the postseason without Joel Embiid. "I was trying to get the ball at the same time I was watching him". My heart dropped. He's a tough guy.

The Sixers would go on to defeat the Knicks 118-101 to extend their winning streak to eight and keep hold of the fourth spot in the Easter Conference playoff picture.

The Indiana Pacers are lurking a half-game back of the 76ers.
