"Hooray! Valve's going to start shipping games again".
According to Gabe Newell, Valve making games again comes from the studio finally having the expertise and hardware to be able to start developing games again, which was the reason behind them investing in hardware like the HTC Vive and the Steam VR headsets.
There's no concrete evidence from the presentation that Valve is working on anything else besides the aforementioned VR games and Artifact, but it's still great to hear that a company with a storied history in game development seems to be back to doing what first made it such a beloved figure in the industry.
No, there was no news on Half-Life 3, but if Valve comes back to software development and publishing, there's still a sliver of hope left. "When I say we're building three games, we're building three full games, not experiments".
BJP To Celebrate Historic Tripura Win As Vijay Diwas Today
We must understand the BJP is coming to power. "Tripura voters have given their mandate for a BJP-IPTF government in the state". The NDPP and the BJP also won 29 seats but have also got the support of JD (U) and an independent.
This new hardware knowledge, alongside the software prowess that the Valve has, will result in more than just brand new video games from Valve.
Interestingly, Nintendo's game development prowess was one reason for why Valve chose to steer itself down such a winding path. Newel didn't elaborate stating they are not "going to be talking about it today" but that Valve is looking to "develop hardware and software simultaneously".
Valve is even a little jealous of companies like Nintendo, with Newell saying: "We've always been a little bit jealous of companies like Nintendo". Valve saw the likes of Microsoft and Facebook (with the Oculus purchase) attempting to build closed ecosystems in Windows and VR and Valve wanted to head that off at the pass. When Miyamoto is sitting down thinking about the next version of Zelda or Mario, he's thinking what is the controller going to look like, what sort of graphics and other capabilities [will the platform have]. Newell also didn't say anything about any new shooters, so we likely won't be dealing with anything related to Half Life at any point in the future. Excited to see Valve work on something other than hardware for once? "That's something we've been jealous of, and that's something you'll see us taking advantage of subsequently".
