Boucher pleads guilty to federal charge in Paul attack

Rene Boucher is facing jail for tackling the Republican politician in Bowling Green past year and breaking six of his ribs.
Boucher has agreed to pay restitution to Paul in an amount that will be determined at sentencing.
Sen. Paul was mowing his yard in November, 2017, while wearing headphones when Boucher approached him from behind and dragged him to the ground.
Boucher and Paul have been neighbors in Rivergreen for close to 20 years, though Paul has said that he had very little contact with Boucher for several years leading up to being tackled. He returned to Washington less than two weeks later but developed pneumonia when he returned to Kentucky.

Boucher affirmed during an interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in November that the incident was not politically motivated, but that it instead sprang forth from an ongoing property dispute, court records show.
Baker has said there was no political motivation for the attack.

Boucher is free on bond and living in his house next to the senator's home, Baker said.
