"Guatemala's announcement to move its embassy to Jerusalem is a flagrant violation of global laws and will further inflame tensions in the Arab region", Abuali said. The transfer will take place just two days after the US makes the same controversial move to coincide with the anniversary of Israel's creation.
"I would like to thank President Trump for leading the way", Morales said.
During her visit Haley congratulated Morales for his work against corruption and respect for human rights, even though a year ago Guatemala had massive protests demanding their president resign over corruption allegations.
Morales said that Guatemala will move its embassy to Jerusalem two days after the United States makes the move, coinciding with the 70 anniversary of Israel's independence.
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley visited Guatemala in late February where she thanked Morales for his support of Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the U.S. embassy to the city, ending decades of Washington's policy stating that the status of the city of Jerusalem must be decided as part of a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine, a position that most of the worldwide community continues to fully support.
Vikings receive two compensatory picks in 2018 NFL Draft
The NFL did not count the team's signing of Martellus Bennett in the calculation of the draft pick distribution. Last year, the Giants lost free agents Johnathan Hankins, Robbie Gould, Marshall Newhouse, and Coty Sensabaugh.
Morales met in Washington in early February with Donald Trump, who at the time also expressed gratitude for his support on the embassy move. "His courageous decision has encouraged us to do what is right".
Morales, whose base includes strong conservative Christian support, said his decision "strongly evidences Guatemala's continued support and solidarity with the people of Israel". But 128 countries supported that non-binding resolution.
Both leaders also discussed deepening bilateral ties and cooperation, with Morales inviting Netanyahu to visit the Central American country. It was one of the first countries to recognize its status as a nation, and its diplomats once lobbied for votes at the U.N.to ensure its creation.
Trump reversed decades of US policy, which avoided declaring Jerusalem the Israeli capital in the absence of an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal, by announcing the relocation of the country's embassy in Israel on December 7.
