Millions of BB&T customers affected by outage

Millions of BB&T customers were reportedly locked out of their accounts on Friday due to a service outage.

BB&T said in its tweet that people can still use their BB&T debit, credit, and prepaid cards. Our online and mobile banking platforms are now available along with our automated Phone24 service and ATMs.

- If you bank with BB&T, you may not be able to access your account.

The Winston-Salem-based bank acknowledged the outage Thursday and Friday on its website and Twitter account but did not specify what went wrong.

"The issue we're working on was caused by an equipment malfunction in one of our data centers". "We expect those balances and transactions to become current later today", Davis said.

Thai Court Says Japanese Tycoon Can Raise His 13 Surrogate Children
His Bangkok apartment was raided and the police found nine surrogate babies, nannies and a pregnant surrogate mother. This was certainly a win for the Japanese business man who has been campaigning for custody since 2014.

"We are listening to our clients and we are committed to making this right", said Brian Davis, BB&T director of corporate communications.

It was an untimely service breakdown given BB&T's latest marketing pitch is "All we see is you", and the bank had avoided having a major customer-service issue, unlike many of its peers.

An outage map showed the biggest impact was focused on Charlotte, Atlanta, the Washington DC area and Philadelphia. If you've incurred any fees or experienced any issues directly related to this outage, we will work with you to address those issues as our systems come back online.

BB&T's social-media officials tried to put salve on the glitch via its website and Facebook page with a brief explanation of what happened, service updates, apologies and answers to customer questions.
