Uber Express Pool is like a minibus with cheaper rides

The new service lets customers book rides with other passengers heading in the same general direction, making it more efficient by minimizing the number of deviations a driver must make. Once requested, we'll spend the next few minutes selecting the most compatible co-riders and a driver nearby, and the best spot for pickup within a few blocks of your location.
In addition to having to walk a little prior to the journey, riders will also have to walk a bit at the end of their journey to reach their final destination. They'll then be driven to a common drop-off point, and walk a short distance to their individual destinations, according to a company press release.
The concept was originally piloted in San Francisco and Boston last November and based on favorable results, will extend to more cities including Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, San Diego and Denver.
Express Pool, meanwhile, simply calculates what is ostensibly a more efficient route and asks the rider to walk a few minutes away.
The idea is that this will help maximize the efficiency of a trip, which might come in handy if certain areas are congested, and walking to your driver might actually be faster than your driver coming to you. Dirt-cheap fares, up to 50 percent cheaper than UberPool and 75 percent less expensive than UberX.
NASA captured the most distant photograph from the Earth
NASA says Voyager 1's cameras were turned off after that, so its photography record has been unchallenged for more than 27 years. New Horizons snapped these two farthest-out shots, of Kuiper Belt objects (KBOs) 2012 HZ84 and 2012 HE85 , on December 5, 2017.
The service is Uber's first big project in three in a half years and has undergone a lengthy trial period.
From a public policy perspective, these types of ride-pooling services represent an enormous opportunity to provide more high quality, affordable transportation to more people who don't have access to cars or public transit than ever before, said Daniel Sperling, director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California-Davis.
And, as of Wednesday, it's officially adding a new service to its roster that'll cater to people who don't want to spend a lot of money: a low-priced carpool service called Express Pool.
The Express POOL option will live right alongside the standard, existing POOL option that's there right now in the app, at least for the foreseeable future, and riders can have the choice. Today the word comes down that Uber Express Pool Provides Cheapest Fares Yet. Uber told CNN it can charge riders less because it expects seats to be filled, and customers will split the cost of paying for a driver.
"People love the price [of regular Uber POOL], but have mixed feelings about the experience", Uber lead project manager Ethan Stock said in a press call Tuesday.
