The illegal immigrant suspected of killing an Indianapolis Colts player and another man in a drunken roadside crash over the weekend has been charged with a felony immigration violation, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Jackson and the driver of his ride-share auto were killed after a black Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 37-year-old man struck both of them as they were standing on the side of a highway by their stopped vehicle.
Federal immigration officials declined to comment Tuesday beyond noting in a statement that Orrego-Savala had a 2005 drunken driving conviction in Redwood City and numerous misdemeanor arrests and convictions in California and Indiana.
Orrego-Savala is a Guatemalan citizen who's in the USA illegally.
"We must do more to get these unsafe illegal immigrant criminals off of our streets, and guarantee this never happens again by building a wall, ending sanctuary cities, and stopping illegal immigration once and for all", Indiana Rep. Todd Rokita said in a statement.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay will pay for the funerals of Edwin Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe, after they were killed in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver. The Georgia Southern product had 61 tackles and two sacks and started eight games in 2016 for the Colts. He tried to flee the scene but was arrested by a responding officer on a nearby exit ramp, according to Indiana State Police.
Liverpool star Salah lifts lid on relationship with Jose Mourinho

Mr Trump took to Twitter to call an accident, involving an allegedly drunk driver, that claimed the life of Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson "disgraceful".
The two most serious charges each carry maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
Just learned about the passing of one of my favorite teammates. Orrego-Savala's truck drove onto the emergency shoulder and hit the rear of the vehicle that struck Jackson and Monroe. "Much of such commentary, including tweets by the President, fails to acknowledge that both Edwin Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe lost their lives on Sunday", he said.
Trump went on to offer condolences to Jackson's family, and called him a "wonderful young man". Jail records viewed by Fox News on Monday morning said Orrego-Savala, under an alias, was driving without a license. He had entered the United States illegally in July 2004 and he was convicted of driving under the influence in Redwood City, California, in 2005, ICE said. Always happy. always uplifting. always humble.he was a true shining light on this earth.Such an incredibly sad day for anybody who has ever been lucky enough to be around or befriend Edwin Jackson. The Colts said in a statement Sunday, Feb. 4, 3018, that the team is "heartbroken" by Jackson's death.
