Elsewhere in the meeting, Iranian president hailed Sochi summit's role in resolving the regional issues, saying "fortunately, the tripartite relations between Iran, Turkey and Russian Federation today are very important in regional affairs, while in the current situation, the need for further consultation and cooperation is needed to resolve the Syrian crisis".
The two leaders also hailed progress made at Sochi talks, which was started by Russian Federation and supported by Turkey and Iran.
He warned against what he called attempts to "alter geographical borders in the region" including that of Syria. But along with Iran they have sponsored a series of meetings - held mainly in Kazakhstan, but most recently in Sochi, Russia, in late January - that they say are aimed at ending the conflict.
