Quiksilver CEO Disappears Off French Coast

Two boats and three helicopters are now involved in a search to find Mr Agnes, according to authorities.

Quiksilver is an American retail sporting company founded in Australia but now based in California.

Agnes went fishing early Tuesday and has not been heard from since his boat was recovered later in the morning on the beach near his hometown, Boardriders said in a statement.

Pierre had radioed in to the harbour master to say he was postponing his return due to bad fog.

The region is known for having occasional unsafe waves.

Helicopters, boats and a jet ski have been searching the Bay of Biscay but on Wednesday afternoon, authorities announced that the sea part of the search was being suspended.

The 18 points were five more than Tatum had scored combined in the previous two games. In fact, he'll be missing up to two weeks with the unusual injury.

Nearly three hours later, his 36ft sailboat - the Mascaret III - was found empty and washed up on the French Atlantic coast.

"The Boardriders family and entire surfing world are devastated by this news", the Huntington Beach company said.

"We are concentrating on working with the local authorities on the search and rescue effort and supporting Pierre's family", Boardriders said. In 2003, he served as Managing Director of Quiksilver Europe and eventually worked his way up to the position of CEO, which he's held since 2015.

Surfing legend Kelly Slater took to Instagram to talk about Agnes' "profound effect" on him and the sport.

Agnes, an experienced surfer, worked at Quiksilver for nearly 30 years and became CEO in 2015, reports Surfer magazine.

The World Surf League wrote on Twitter that news of Mr Agnes's disappearance was "deeply troubling".
