Liverpool agree deal to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for £75m

Gary Neville says the £75m fee paid by Liverpool for Virgil van Dijk is "incredible", but will prove a good deal if he helps his new club win trophies.

The Netherlands global was on the brink of joining the Merseyside club at the start of the season only for the transfer to fall through after the Reds were accused of making an alleged illegal approach.

The Reds were left celebrating on Wednesday as they announced that Southampton's star would be finally joining the club after a protracted transfer saga.

City will have to make way and let Liverpool meet the demands of the Saints who want a record £70m-plus fee for the player.

The Dutchman in turn becomes the most expensive defender in history, taking the record previously set by Manchester City with the arrival of Benjamin Mendy.

Virgil van Dijk has to win trophies for Liverpool and be the club's No 1 centre-back for the next decade, according to former Reds defender Jamie Carragher.

Civilization 6 comes to iPad, full game to cost $60
Of course Civ VI is rarely $60 on PC anymore, so I wouldn't be surprised to see that launch special become a permanent pricepoint. Aspyr is well-known for its ports of popular games to macOS such as Rage, Prey, The Sims, and the Call of Duty franchise.

Southampton - who accused Liverpool of tapping up Van Dijk when they initially made a move for him in the summer - released a brief statement about the deal on their website.

Saints confirmed that Liverpool's offer had shattered the record, but didn't reveal the exact fee.

Dembele has been linked with clubs in the Premier League, Ligue 1 and Serie A in advance of the January window opening.

"I will always be indebted to the club for giving me the opportunity to play in the Premier League". Thank you for everything!

Van Dijk's first game is likely to be the FA Cup third round Merseyside derby with Everton.
