Atletico report Barcelona to Federation Internationale de Football Association for illegal Antoine Griezmann approach

In his final season with the Merseyside club, the 30-year-old scored 31 goals in the league becoming the joint record holder along with former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo and former Blackburn Rovers star Alan Shearer for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season.

There have also been hints from Barcelona's leadership that they have at least met with people close to Griezmann - last week Barcelona director Guillermo Amor admitted the possibility that club president Josep Maria Bartomeu may have had contact with people close to the forward.

The media source, The Mirror, is inferring that if any complaint to Federation Internationale de Football Association is upheld, Barcelona could well be faced with another transfer ban.

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann after Atletico Madrid had a massive row with Barcelona, according to reports in the British media.

They also faced off in the semi-final in 2009, and this time it was Barca who benefitted from an injury-time goal. We are still 11 points behind Manchester City .

Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres hopes to see teammate Antoine Griezmann reject interest from elsewhere and continue his career at the Wanda Metropolitano.

"The complaint has been presented for repeated contact between Barcelona, the player and his team", an Atletico source told AFP.

With Barcelona expected to bring in Griezmann and Suarez being in bad form and failing to reach the previous heights he has achieved, the Uruguayan could be on his way out of the Spanish club.

"If the paper says it then it is possible it is like that", Amor told Movistar TV. "Maybe there's been a meeting and things have advanced, although I don't know". Whether Atletico will be minded to sell to the Catalans is another matter.
