Winter Storm Warning in effect — Metro Detroit Weather

The National Weather Service is issuing a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 1:00 a.m. Friday and lasting until 4:00 p.m. Friday for a possible 2-4 inches of snow.

The State College area is expected to see 3 to 5 inches as a fast-moving Alberta clipper system brings widespread light to moderate snowfall overnight, according to NWS.

The snow is expected to fall before sunrise and - with temperatures in the low 20s - untreated roads are likely to be slick.

"The snow should enter the region late in the evening and be on the decrease by daybreak", the weather service says in a forecast discussion from its Philadelphia region office in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

That's a lot of "ifs" and pinning down a small batch of snow showers spatially and temporarily is a hard task, Strong said, with the advisory meant to ready drivers for the possibility of slippery conditions.

Israeli Missiles Hit Military Site Near Damascus Outskirts
But the Prime Minister's Office saw fit to put out the short clip relating to Iranian presence in Syria on Saturday evening. Israel launched surface-to-surface missiles at a military installation outside the Syrian capital Damascus overnight.

It will end around the end of the morning rush, with a high near 32 Thursday.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 15.

The heaviest snow has moved out of the area. If there is accumulation, it is expected to be less than an inch. The low at night will be around 19.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34.

A trace of precipitation (rain and melted snow) fell at the airport on Tuesday, keeping the December and meteorological winter (December through February) totals at 0.53 inches, 0.29 inches below normal.
