Samsung on Wednesday announced three new models of Notebook 9 (2018) laptops and a new Samsung Notebook 9 Pen.

Last year, Samsung kept the design of its Notebook 9 simple and light but didn't sport attractive features like high-resolution display or hybrid design. The new Notebook 9 Pen is ready to take on Microsoft Surface devices with its built-in battery-free S Pen stylus. The notebooks are powered by an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD, and Intel HD graphics. They're made of an alloy called Metal12 that Samsung says is lighter than aluminum. "Buyers of 13" Notebook 9 and Notebook 9 Pen models will have to make do with Intel IGPs, but shoppers can spec out a 15" Notebook 9 with an Nvidia GeForce MX150 discrete graphics card with 2 GB of its own memory.

The new Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) will feature Full HD RealViewTouch display with 6.2 mm bezel around the screen from all the sides.

Interestingly, you can convert this laptop into Tablet as it is connected with a 360 Degree hinge. Additionally, the new Notebook 9 Pen has an advanced S Pen.

All of the new devices come with a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello, but the Notebook 9 Pen also includes an IR camera for facial recognition. The Notebooks will be available in the United States in the first quarter of the next year.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Notebook 9 Pen features a 13.3-inch display with Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The devices run on the 8 generation Intel Core i7 processor and Samsung Dual Channel Memory to handle multiple jobs, viewing and rendering high-quality graphics without compromising on the performance or speed.

The Notebook 9 Pen guarantees adaptability and compactness. Connectivity options include a USB Type-C port, one USB 3.0 port, a very handy HDMI port, as well as a fingerprint sensor. It is equipped with an S Pen that has a tip of just 0.7mm. The two non-pen models will now carry 75Wh batteries that can be fast-charged by the 65W power adapters included with every unit. The 15-inch USB-C port will support Thunderbolt 3, and there's also an additional USB 2.0 port on the larger model. "Storage options go up to a 512 GB NVMe SSD on the Notebook 9 Pen and up to a 1 TB drive on the non-convertible 13" and 15" Notebook 9.

Interestingly, Samsung is using the "largest and most powerful" battery its ever placed in a laptop in both models.
