Annihilation trailer pits Natalie Portman against biological horrors

"At the point I started working on Annihilation, there was only one of the three books", he said. After blowing our minds the other year with Ex Machina, Garland is back to take us on another adventure, one where the stakes are more obvious but no less risky.

Speaking of not pulling punches, I sat down with Alex Garland after the release of Ex Machina to talk about politics, technology, and who really controls the future.

This new trailer combines lovely landscapes shots with legitimately jumpy moments. A trick of the marketing or a sign of an adaptation that wasn't precious about the book it's adapting?

In the story, a team of four women set out on an expedition into Area X, a misunderstood region of lethal, weird anomalies and contradictory aspects to the known world. The rules of the natural world don't apply within its borders.

Soul Calibur VI launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2018
It's official: after five years Soul Calibur is coming back, and the sixth chapter has a set 2018 release window. I don't know about you, but I'm as excited as I was when I first put my hands on Soul Edge on PlayStation.

A trailer for Natalie Portman's upcoming sci-fi/horror movie was released Wednesday, and gives a little more backstory into her character's relationship with her husband (Oscar Isaac).

Natalie Portman stars as the Biologist, the lead of the story. In "Annihilation", based on Jeff VanderMeer's 2014 best-selling novel, Portman's character heads into Area X, which has been cut off from civilization for decades. Though it should be noted that author VanderMeer is by no means a biologist. This trailer feels very much like the result of the behind-the-scenes conflicts on the film, where producers are butting heads over whether the film is "too intellectual" for audiences.

Judging by this trailer, there are a lot of changes in place from the book to the movie.

Annihilation will be coming out February 23, 2018. When fellow producer Scott Rudin (Lady Bird) refused to force Ellison's recommended changes on the film, Paramount chose to seek out a new global distributor over its concerns about Annihilation's box office prospects.
