Man accused of gunning down Texas State Trooper is arrested

Allen, 41, was making a routine traffic stop on Interstate 45, just south of Fairfield, Thursday, when Black allegedly shot him with a rifle and sped away. "He is a black male, 5'11" tall and weighs 175 pounds.
Dabrett Black, 32, was being held in the Brazos County jail in Bryan, Texas, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Houston.
When deputies arrived to investigate, someone began shooting at them, authorities said.
The suspected gunman who is believed to have killed a Texas state trooper on Thanksgiving Day was captured in Waller County. Authorities have not released the identity of the State Trooper. Court records show he was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.

Investigators say the shooting happened during a traffic stop.
Lonny Haschel, a public information officer with the Texas Highway Patrol, says,"It takes time for the Texas Rangers, the investigators to come in and analyze every bit of physical evidence at the scene". He is the second DPS Trooper to be killed in the line of duty this month.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered Texas flags at Texas Department of Public Safety facilities statewide to be lowered to half-staff in honor of fallen Trooper Damon Allen who was shot and killed on Thursday in Freestone County following a traffic stop.
The suspect was apprehended Thursday night near Prairie View, about 110 miles (177 kilometers) south of Fairfield. The WCSO reported shots fired prior to Black's apprehension, but did not indicate who opened fire. He was treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening. The agency says Allen joined the department in 2002 and was married with three children.
