Trump takes aim at Sen. Al Franken over groping claims

While Trump sees an opening to make life more hard for Democrats, it is also true that Republicans' internal politics make his delving further into the Moore race complicated.

As the storm of allegations has swirled, Trump, who himself has faced more than a dozen allegations of sexual misconduct, had largely avoided comment.

Moore has repeatedly denied all the allegations against him. This includes calling a girl at her school after she refused to give him her phone number at the mall.

Some responded to Trump's tweets by citing the allegations against the president. Al Franken (D-MN) for alleged sexual misconduct. The same day, published an account of another accuser, who said Moore grabbed her buttocks in 1991.

The woman, now 55, said she was attending a fund-raiser for Mr Bush's re-election campaign in Dearborn, Michigan, with her father when the president grabbed her bum during a photo-op. Season 16 will premiere on HBO in 2018. "That they can't seem to come to terms with the reality that their president is just as guilty as Roy Moore". His tweet triggered an immediate reaction on Twitter, including one from Gretchen Carlson, the former Fox News host who came forward with sexual harassment allegations against Roger Ailes that eventually forced him to resign as the chieftain of Fox News.

"The Washington Post is certainly not evidence", Moore said Thursday. "He will not stop fighting for the people of Alabama".

Maher called the claims against Franken "very disturbing" and joked, "I was so shaken I called Bill Cosby to see if he had anything to calm me down".

Jussi Pylkkanen, Christie's president, served as the auctioneer for the battle that lasted just under twenty minutes. Long-known to have existed, and long-sought after, it seemed just a tantalizingly unobtainable dream until now.

As well, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said she plans to vote for Moore.

On Tuesday, the Republican National Committee pulled its financial support for Moore, following similar action last week by the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

In recent days, GOP officials sought to explain away Trump's refusal to call on Moore to step aside as an effort not to add more fuel to the anti-establishment fires boosting Moore's campaign.

"Many of you have recognized that this is an effort by Mitch McConnell and his cronies to steal this election from the people of Alabama, and they will not stand for it", Moore said.

Implicit in the Trump approach is his and his aides' confidence that he has absorbed the political damage from his own past, while Democrats, who depend heavily on women voters, may have more to lose now.

Yet Trump also seemed to be relying on pure gut when he started tweeting about Franken, just after 10 p.m. Thursday, less than 48 hours after returning from an exhausting five-country trip through Asia. The former Saturday Night Live writer and cast member has been an outspoken critic of Trump's administration.
