Sessions defends himself to Congress, says he never lied

"Nobody, nobody, not you or anybody else, not me, should be accused of perjury for answering a question the way I did in this hearing", Sessions said.

"I have been asked to remember details from a year ago, such as who I saw on what day, in what meeting, and who said what when", he added. Papadopoulos, in pleading guilty to lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, has admitted he told Trump and a group of other campaign officials, including Sessions, that he had contacts who could help arrange a meeting between Trump and Putin. We know the Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee, paid for, through the law firm, paid for the dossier [that alleges Trump-Russia ties].

"These senior prosecutors will report directly to the attorney general and the deputy attorney general, as appropriate, and will make recommendations as to whether any matters not now under investigation should be opened, whether any matters now under investigation require further resources, or whether any matters merit a special counsel", said the senior official, Stephen E. Boyd, an assistant attorney general. But in this case Franken asked a straightforward question and the response Sessions gave was misleading, Gershman said.

"I hope the attorney general can provide some clarification on this problem in his remarks today", Conyers said.

The list of matters he wanted probed was wide ranging, but included the FBI's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, various dealings of the Clinton Foundation and several matters connected to the purchase of the Canadian mining company Uranium One by Russia's nuclear energy agency.

West Ham appoint David Moyes as new manager
Moyes' first match in charge will come after the global break, a trip to Watford in the Premier League on November 19. To no one's surprise, David Moyes was announced as the new West Ham manager early on Tuesday morning.

Continuous leaks have proven to be a thorn in President Trump's side and have shown no sign of stopping.

He said during January's confirmation hearing that he was unaware of such communications.

The Post later reported that Russia's ambassador to Washington told his superiors that he and Sessions discussed campaign-related matters, including policy issues important to Moscow.

Sessions previously testified at a similar hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee in October. He said recently that officials there "should be looking at the Democrats" and that it was "very discouraging" they were not "going after Hillary Clinton".

Sessions also told the House committee that he did not recall an encounter with another campaign adviser, Carter Page.

The Kremlin denies that and Trump says there was no collusion between his campaign and Russian officials.

Sessions pushed backed, saying a special counsel is only appointed if there is enough evidence to merit that appointment.
