You Can Earn Money By Collecting PlayStation Trophies

What you do need to do is get registered for the Sony Rewards program.

A new section to the Rewards Passes page over at Sony that started appearing in late last week lists silver, gold and platinum trophies as milestones you can fulfill to earn points.

Before you get all excited and sign up, it's worth noting that trophies earned before signing up will not count towards the program.

100 silver trophies earns you 100 points, 25 gold trophies earns you 250 points and 10 platinum trophies earns you 1,000 points.

Be advised that you can earn 2,600 points from these missions.

Sony just updated their Rewards Program to include earning points through trophies for gamers who are willing to collect them.

'Overwhelmed with sadness': Florida fraternity under investigation after pledge dies
Andrew Coffey was found dead Friday morning after an off-campus fraternity party Thursday night in Tallahassee. "Unfortunately we've got to take steps with our students, to make sure this never happens again".

If you're still interested in the program, and you probably should be since it's free, just head here to get signed up.

Once you have a total of 1000 points, you may have a $10 PSN voucher. Only fresh trophies will be able to be converted into points and this offer applies only to those in the United States for now. This isn't a ton of extra cash for your purchases, of course, but it can actually help you play multiple free games.

In response to the new reward system, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer wrote on Twitter "Sounds like a cool feature, I'm going to give it a try".

What do you think about the new Sony Rewards promotion?

What can you do with these points?

It's an interesting idea, particularly because for a long time these unlockable achievements have served as their own reward, a badge of honour; for some they are the object of obsession, with glory hunters devoting their lives to the pursuit of bragging rights.
