Why? Dante Daniels beaten to death by Deandre Chaney Jr with hammer

According to the criminal complaint, 23-year-old Deandre Chaney Jr. was allegedly performing a criminal lewd act on Dante's 7-year-old sister when the little boy stepped in to help.
At some point, Chaney Jr. turned a hammer and knife on Danae, as well as the children's mother.
He is also said to have used lighter fluid.
"They couldn't save his brain", said Dante's grandmother Monique Brown.

According to the report, Dante witnessed Chaney Jr. molesting his 7-year-old sister the criminal complaint claims. Daniels never made to his second day of third grade at Oakridge Elementary in South Sacramento. Chaney is the boy's mother's ex-boyfriend. Salone told detectives that she was "struck at least three times" with a hammer from behind as she went to check on her child.
Preceding the attacks, the ex-boyfriend in the early morning hours of September 1, circa 4am called up his ex, 28 year old woman, Elizabeth Salone asking for a ride. Wylie saved his sister but he was hit by the auto himself and died a day later succumbing to his injuries in a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Salone and Danae survived, but they have been badly hurt.
Ms Brown revealed her daughter has probably lost the sight in her left eye and seven-year-old Danae will need long-term care too, a GoFundMe page has been set up to pay for the medical costs.
Prior to the murder, the suspect and victim were involved in an alleged drug deal, according to the arrest warrant obtained by WFAA.
However, Brown says Dante's heroism has continued even after his death.
Along with murder and attempted murder charges, Chaney Jr. also faces a charge for lewd acts with a child under 14.
In October, Chaney plead no contest to a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
