Ryan: Deporting DACA beneficiaries is not in the 'nation's interest'

DACA has extended temporary work permits and deportation protection to almost 800,000 younger immigrants brought to the U.S.as minors.

"I wanted him to give us time". The leaders were expected to discuss DACA, among issues, according to congressional aides and the White House. The as-yet-undrafted bill to overhaul the tax code is the top priority for Trump and Republicans after the collapse of their effort to dismantle Barack Obama's health care law.

"Last week Trump infuriated many in his party when he reached a three-month agreement with Schumer and Pelosi to raise the debt ceiling, keep the government running and speed relief to states affected by recent hurricanes".

Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus have said they won't vote to pass a budget out of the House until they get more details on tax changes.

"We don't want to forget DACA".

"In a revenue-neutral bill, Congress can't get the rate below 26 percent even if it eliminates almost every corporate tax expenditure", Gleckman said in a blog posting accompanying the study. So we'll be discussing that today.

"That's a positive thing and it's good for the Republicans and good for the Democrats", Trump said.

"If you look at some of the greatest legislation ever passed, it was done on a bipartisan manner". And Congress must act by December 8 to fund the government or face a shutdown, which could distract from the tax debate.

Trump met Tuesday with Democratic Sens.

White House Budget director Mick Mulvaney said he thinks Democrats are interested in working together on a tax overhaul.

Ryan said he articulated the need for border security to be included in any agreement during his meeting with top House Democrats Wednesday evening. So he himself said, 'We're not going to put the wall tied into this. "That is more important than anything else because if we have tax reform that doesn't actually fix our problems, then we'll lose more and more businesses, and the deficit will go even higher".

Ryan said that Republicans hope tax reform could lead to 3% economic growth.

"I do believe that kicking these 800,000 kids out to countries that they have probably not been to since they were toddlers, countries that speak languages that they may not even know, is not in our nation's interest", Ryan in response to a question during an AP Newsmakers interview.

"Ryan added, "This is a broken system that needs to be fixed".

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) arrives at a news conference after a closed conference meeting on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., September 13, 2017.

"In that scenario, my experience tells me that big corporations, big lobbyists do fine, and middle class families don't always do so fine", he said.
