On Tuesday, North Korea provoked worldwide alarm after it fired a mid-range missile over the Japanese island of Hokkaido.
Many believe the North's young dynastic ruler Kim Jong-un is seeking to strengthen internal unity and consolidate power through provocations and menacing rhetoric, and tout his fearless leadership enough to take on the world's greatest power, the U.S. It's still too early to see if Kim can create new rules without crossing a line that the United States won't tolerate.
This refers to North Korea's attempt to strengthen its weapons capabilities and use them to test its bargaining power against the United States.
On Monday, North Korea launched an intermediate range ballistic missile over Japan.
But animosity is higher than usual following threats by Mr Trump to unleash "fire and fury" on the North, and Pyongyang's stated plan to consider firing some of its missiles near Guam.
The U.S. territory of Guam is home to key military bases and strategic long-range bombers that North Korea finds threatening. This could risk triggering a military retaliation from the United States if something goes wrong.
The Obama administration had provided $1 million to North Korea on January 19, one day before Trump took office, according to Voice of America.
"The missile launch would have gotten on my nerves, if the security conditions had been stable and peaceful before that", he added.
"North Korea's actions are a threat to our allies, partners and homeland, and their destabilising actions will be met accordingly", said General Terrence O'Shaughnessy, Pacific Air Forces Commander, who made an unscheduled visit to Japan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi scrapped high value currency notes past year in a bid to fight corruption and wipe out black money. Any number above 50 suggests growth in the sector's activity.
On Thursday, its official news agency, KCNA, denounced the military drills in traditionally robust fashion, calling them "the rash act of those taken aback" by the missile test, which it described as "the first military operation in the Pacific".
US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to condemn Pyongyang, writing "the US has been talking to North Korea, and paying them extortion money, for 25 years".
"I am not disturbed by the North's saber-rattling based on my logic that Pyongyang's threats target Washington with the view to sign a mutual nonaggression pact or gaining some concessions", he said.
Crawford added that most of his family members in Canada and the US are not overly concerned about his safety. We're not talking to the North Koreans right now.
North Korea condemns the annual U.S.
North Korea bought into that kind of agreement in the past, before hardliners in the U.S. Congress undermined American compliance with the agreement.
On Tuesday, the Japanese government said that North Korea fired a missile that fell into the Pacific Ocean after passing over the Japanese archipelago. "This regime has signaled its contempt for its neighbors, for all members of the United Nations, and for minimum standards of acceptable worldwide behavior", said President Donald Trump said in a statement on August 29.
The problem here is that Washington won't be very interested in displaying the kind of "demeanor" that North Korea is likely to want.
However, China and Russian Federation have both urged calm from all sides and suggested that USA military drills in the region may be provoking North Korea.
