Additional Arizona Red Cross volunteers being sent to Houston

At least two people have died as the National Hurricane Center says Harvey continues to cause "catastrophic flooding in southeastern Texas".

The American Red Cross is accepting monetary and blood donations to help those affected by Harvey, which is still dumping rain on the Houston area in Texas.

The Red Cross said they plan to shelter more than 20,000 people over a period of weeks or months and they are expected to stay down there for ten to 14 days.

The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency said his agency is already gearing up for a years-long effort to help Texas recover from the damage wrought by Hurricane Harvey. "We're thankful for the dedication of volunteers that are willing to help those in need and advance the humanitarian mission". This not only lets you search for a loved one in the affected area, but lets you respond to pleas of help from people who have been impacted.

Redbridge GCSE pupils felt the pressure of the new grading system
Fifty-three per cent of all GCSE grades achieved this year were A* or A (Grades 9-7) and 26 per cent were A*s (Grades 9-8). Next year all grades will be changed to the new numbered format.

There are other options, but the main message stressed by disaster officials is that relief organizations do their best work, quickly, by receiving financial donations, not donations of food, clothing or other supplies. The Red Cross honors donor intent. You can simply donate by texting "HARVEY" to 90999.

The Red Cross and Salvation Army also need volunteers to help at the shelters set up to house people who fled the coast. "And we assist with feeding and disaster mental health".

Red Cross volunteer training is free and open to the public.

The American Red Cross provides programs and services to a population of 8.8 million in New Jersey. A background check will be performed on every volunteer applicant prior to the training.
