FBI Raid Proves Manafort Tied To Criminal Activity — Blumenthal

Sources told ABC News that the search warrant, issued by the FBI, stems from the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Manafort, whose lawyer had been Reginald Brown of the law firm WilmerHale, announced separately Thursday that he was returning to previous representation, the Miller & Chevalier law firm, a spokesman for Manafort said in a statement.

On Wednesday, The Washington Post broke the news that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents acting on a search warrant obtained by Special Counsel Robert Mueller conducted an early morning "no knock" raid on Manafort's Alexandria, Va. home on July 26.

A firing of Mueller should lead to the creation of a modern-day analogue of the Senate Select Watergate Committee to investigate all matters involved in the Russian Federation scandals and Trump's obstruction of the investigation.

You say, "Oh, I'm going to dismiss him".

News of Manafort's legal shakeup followed reports that he was seeking new counsel.

Committee leaders have been in talks with Trump Jr. and committee chairman Paul Manafort about private interviews.

But the statements stood in contrast to what Mr. Trump has privately told people close to him in recent months.

Ahead of that appearance, Waters told the Daily Caller that she would run for president if millennials wanted her to run.

"I think that's pretty tough stuff", the President added.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller in May and supervises his investigation, said that Mueller was operating within his mandate.

Also, Jeffrey Yohai, the estranged husband of Manafort's daughter, is being investigated by FBI agents, according to the article.

Mr Trump also said he had no thoughts about firing Mr Mueller, whose investigation he has frequently denounced as a "witch hunt" or "hoax". I have no loans in Russian Federation.

Lawyers said the special counsel may have been motivated to use a search warrant over concerns that evidence might be concealed or destroyed, which sometimes happens in terrorism and drug trafficking cases.

Law firm WilmerHale had been speaking on Manafort's behalf to investigators, but that relationship has ended, Maloni said.

United States media reported that Mueller had impaneled a grand jury to investigate Russia's alleged interference in the election on August 3.

According to committee officials, the panel has now received roughly 20,000 pages from the Trump campaign responding to a detailed series of questions posed by the panel last month.
