Sources told ABC News that the search warrant, issued by the FBI, stems from the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
Manafort, whose lawyer had been Reginald Brown of the law firm WilmerHale, announced separately Thursday that he was returning to previous representation, the Miller & Chevalier law firm, a spokesman for Manafort said in a statement.
On Wednesday, The Washington Post broke the news that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents acting on a search warrant obtained by Special Counsel Robert Mueller conducted an early morning "no knock" raid on Manafort's Alexandria, Va. home on July 26.

Law firm WilmerHale had been speaking on Manafort's behalf to investigators, but that relationship has ended, Maloni said.
United States media reported that Mueller had impaneled a grand jury to investigate Russia's alleged interference in the election on August 3.
