The most-viewed song on YouTube has changed once again

As well as this, Despacito is the first Spanish-language song to reach No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1996's Macarena, with Los Del Rio. As Boing Boing pointed out at the time, the top 10 YouTube videos of all time all had over 2 billion views - and "Despacito" was in the middle of that last with 2.4 billion. The Latin pop mega-hit from Puerto Rican performer Luis Fonsi has surpassed Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's 'See You Again' to become the most-viewed video in YouTube history. The new reigning music video, directed by Miami's Carlos Perez, is of the original song - not the version most people know, featuring Bieber. The view counter for "See You Again" stood at 2,995,680,461 as of Friday evening, and it should hit the mark any day.

The juggernaut that is Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" just took the crown for the most-watched YouTube video ever. Earlier, See You Again defeated Psy's Gangnam Style to secure the numero uno spot. The rules of music have changed.
