It now has another lease on life with the new Samsung SM-G9298 aka Leader 8. The company did not make a huge announcement for the Leader 8, but the product's page on its Chinese Samsung website lists the full specs of the device.

On the display front, the flip phone comes with two 4.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. There are two screens - one on the front, and one on the inside.

The premium flip phone, which bears model number SM-G9298, is actually called the Leader 8 and not W2018 as originally thought.

In terms of photography, there's a 12MP rear camera which features a wide aperture of f/1.7 to pave the path for better low-light photography. Its cameras are pretty impressive. Samsung accounted for just 3 percent of smartphone shipments in China in the second quarter of 2017, down from 7 percent in the same period a year ago. Samsung seems to have tapped into the past and into the nostalgia of long-time smartphone users, who must have used a flip phone at some point or the other. It's powered by Qualcomm's relatively new Snapdragon 821 processor, which is the same chip that fuels the recently launched LG G6. It is the same processor that is being used on LG G6.

There is not much information on the megapixels front, but it is expected to come with great performance and advanced features. While things are unclear at this time, for sure, S9 and its larger iteration will still have some advancement from the Note 8.

The G-9298 flip phone packs in a 2,300mAh battery that comes equipped with a fast wireless charging technology on board for a longer battery life. The Leader 8 sports 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM capacity.

The device also runs on Google's Android mobile operating system. The Leader 8 comes with Android Nougat pre-installed. The device is also packed with additional features, such as Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, a multi-function configurable hotkey and S Voice.

Samsung has not said anything on its pricing. But the bad news is that it might only be sold in China or other Asian countries.
