Three-time Tour victor Froome had on Wednesday described Porte as "the man to beat" after the Tasmanian's strong showing at the Criterium du Dauphine earlier this month. At the end of each Tour de France, the most combative cyclist of the whole race is given the "super-combativity" award.
While Froome will be very much on the radar in terms of the race for the yellow jersey, Boardman expects plenty of other British success - even if sprinter Mark Cavendish isn't at his brilliant best.

"You can't explain how elated we are to be able to announce Richie Porte has extended his contract with the BMC Racing Team for next season and onward", BMC general manager Jim Ochowicz said Thursday, two days before the Tour starts.
