The Monday, May 22, episode began with Rachel's video package, in which the 31-year-old attorney described herself as "sassy yet classy" and admitted that when she had been on Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor, she'd probably waited too long to tell him how she felt.
Jen Richards, an actor and transgender woman, tweeted, "Dear Bryce, on behalf of trans women I can assure you: none of us want to date your bland preppy 1980's teen movie villain rhombus ass. xo". On a conference call with reporters, she said there was some pressure when it came to being the first African-American at the center of a Bachelorette season. Still, after watching the first episode of season 13, it's clear that Lindsay is just like all of the other ladies before her: she's looking for love.
After making commentary about the guys who were cast for her show (with a focus on the Whaboom guy), he showed Rachel photos of the men he predicts are her final three picks. "So I really don't know everything that went on ..." He showed off his sneaker collection (he said he has more than 500 pairs) and explained how he got the "Diggy" nickname.
Blake E., aspiring drummer/trainer/shallow sex monkey: He awkwardly met Rachel on After the Final Rose, but this time he comes with a complete marching band. But Lindsay said she is confident about her ability to face judgment. In the premiere, Matt, a 32-year-old construction sales rep, arrives dressed as a penguin. "Producers must have cast them on goal because it'll make for good TV!" "That's something that's been lacking in my past relationships", she says. Who is Rachel Lindsay engaged to? Part of me was like, "Ooh, la la" because it looked juicy, but then another part was like, "ugh! It never works out".
Smith to replace Almirola at Charlotte
On Saturday, NASCAR driver Aric Almirola's No. 43 Ford twisted into a fiery contortion in a horrifying crash at the Go Bowling 400 in Kansas.
Bryan was one of the first suitors to exit the limo and greeted Rachel by complimenting her in Spanish.
Two other examples of ageism that stand out come from the contestants themselves: In 2005, runner-up John Paul Merritt said of "Bachelorette" Jennifer Schefft, who was 28 when she picked Jerry Ferris: "I think Jen made a mistake", Merritt said in his limo-ride farewell. After Lowe picked Catherine Giudici in the finale, LiCausi showed up at the Women Tell All special with a huge diamond ring in an attempt to bring attention to her way. "He got the first impression rose and you french kissed him". I just have to hope that the producers forced her to keep this weenie around. "I know I ain't Bieber, but I am a believer tonight", he crooned before handing Rachel a handsome white rose. Now she's the one in charge and it'll be the guys' turn to try and win her over.
