Kelly on non-criminal ICE arrestees: 'not the valedictorians'

At the request of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Mexico this week arrested three men from Yemen who were wanted on U.S. charges, a spokesman for Mexico's National Security Commission said on Thursday.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement office announced on May 25 that it had arrested 188 individuals as part of a push to apprehend criminal aliens and immigration-related fugitives.

The White House supported this claim with examples of those seized in ICE operations this year, including hardened repeat offenders from gangs like MS-13 caught in last month;s Operation Community Shield against gang members that yielded 1,378 arrests. Within the group, 15 individuals were previously convicted of sex crimes, including a convicted rapist, an earlier deported cocaine trafficker and tw0 with child cruelty convictions.

Among those who had previous criminal convictions, 43 were for drug offenses, 27 for domestic violence and 30 for driving under the influence. "The individuals that we do find out about, again, are booked into a law enforcement facility, fingerprints taken", said David Marin, an ICE field office director. Thirteen hailed from El Salvador and 12 were Guatemalan, as well as individuals from Armenia, Honduras, Thailand, Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Russia and the Philippines, according to ICE. From Trump's inauguration January 20 through April 29, ICE arrested more than 41,800 people across the country who are known or suspected of being in the country illegally, up 35 percent from the same period in 2016. In the Trump administration, agents are able to arrest anyone in violation of immigration law.

A Southern California woman has taken the first step toward suing county and federal officials after she says she was detained by immigration authorities for deportation even though she is an American citizen. Those individuals will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and arrested by ICE, when appropriate.

An Always On feature has also been implemented with the new Nokia 9 which is an add-on from the previously released smartphones. The device is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The majority of the arrests, 93, were made in Los Angeles County, with others arrested in five surrounding counties, including Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura.

At least eight people arrested now face federal prosecution for re-entry after deportation, which is a felony and is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, officials said.

The arrests follow President Donald Trump's executive orders in February to step up immigration enforcement.

The number represents a 40 per cent increase over the same period in 2016.

Those who are not being criminally prosecuted will be processed for removal from the country.
