Graco recalls car seats; webbing may not hold child in crash

This could pose a danger to children by not adequately restraining them in the event of a crash.

Graco Children's Products has issued a recall of more than 25,000 vehicle seats.

The model numbers impacted are 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015 and 1794334. Each has a webbing code of 2014/06 on a tag.

The seats retail for between $119 and $199, the release said.

These auto seats fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems".

The possibly defective seats were manufactured on July 22, 2014. Although the formal recall won't begin until July 17, according to the agency, replacement harnesses will be provided free of charge (no formal timeline for the new harness deliveries has been announced as of press time).

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Wednesday that the webbing in the Graco My Ride 65 auto seat failed to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
