"You have kids watching". And it only builds up my base. Evaluating popularity by Google searches is ridiculous - and not just because it's entirely possible that some people are searching Fallon (or any of the other hosts) because they hate him.
'The guy was dying. The president also took credit for Colbert's improved ratings, saying he didn't start doing better until he started attacking Trump. But his show was dying.
"I've done his show", he continued. "The highest rating he's ever had".
To Stewart's point, though, it must feel doubly weird for him and Colbert to navigate political comedy in an era when the man holding the highest office in the land is someone whose crude words can no longer be explained away as ratings gambits for a reality show.

Massive mystery sea creature washes ashore in Indonesia
Weighing two tonnes and measuring nearly 7m in length, locals speculated the creature was some sort of undiscovered dugong. The massive carcass was found on Hulung Beach on Serum Island on Tuesday night by a local man, the Jakarta Globe reported .
Trump's mock final draft-number 56-finally nailed down the right verbiage: "I am terminating you because of the Clinton email investigation". In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c**k holster, ' Colbert said.
For his part, Colbert has predictably laughed off the President's criticisms. "The only thing smaller than your hands is your tax returns". "But it's okay, you won the ratings college", referencing the Electoral College that allowed Trump to become president despite losing the popular vote.
Colbert's rant sparked the hashtag #FireColbert, which trended on the internet for days.
"Shame on you", said Colbert to the camera.
"No", said Stewart. "I enjoyed it and would try and heighten it. John's lucky we didn't do that on pavement".
