Bromwich, Proctor broke my trust: Kidwell

Bromwich has taken the decision to stand down as national captain after it was alleged in court he and Proctor bought the drug after Friday's defeat at the hands of old rivals Australia.

"We have values to uphold, and I can't express enough that they have broken my trust, their team-mates trust and the New Zealand public".

New Zealand coach David Kidwell previously stated they would be looking to make a stance on the incident.

"No-one is bigger than the team". In our own domestic game here we do drug education and we try and work with our rugby league community and try to promote making better decisions.

"We take great pride in our game, in our values of integrity, respect, leadership, courage and passion and under no circumstances do we consider that this behaviour is acceptable nor to be tolerated".

Both Bromwich and Proctor have already been punished by their clubs - the Melbourne Storm and Gold Coast Titans respectively - with Bromwich also stepping down as Kiwis captain, the title he was only given in late 2016.

Kidwell decided that the integrity of the Kiwis jersey was more important than how detrimental it would be to go into a World Cup campaign without Bromwich and Proctor.

Green Bay Packers Saturday Draft Picks
The Packers looked to add depth on the defensive line in the third round, and picked Adams out of Auburn . Spencer Hall gave the Jones pick a "C" grade, not liking it quite as much as the Williams selection.

New Zealand's promotional video for the world cup features Jessie Bromwich, third from left, and Shaun Kenny-Dowall, far right.

Australian media reported on Monday that Canberra police were still considering whether to charge the pair.

The allegations came after Canberra man Adrian Mark Crowther, 38, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday after allegedly selling cocaine to the duo.

Kiwis coach David Kidwell and New Zealand Rugby League made the decision that both would be omitted from the World Cup squad.

"Although I can't remember exactly what happened, I don't deny it", Proctor said in his statement.

Bromwich was suspended by the Storm for two games and handed a $20,000 fine while a punishment for Proctor is expected to be announced shortly.
