Venezuela's Maduro threatens Organisation of American States

Two other deaths were reported Wednesday: Efrain Sierra, 28, who died from a gunshot in the stomach during a protest in Tachira, and Christian Humberto Ochoa Soriano, 22, killed during a demonstration Monday in Valencia, east of Caracas.
Most demonstrators rallied peacefully, but some masked protesters turned the rallies violent after they threw stones and clashed with police who fired back tear gas and rubber bullets.
Foreign Minister Delcy Rodríguez said Venezuela is ready to withdraw from the Organization of American States if a meeting of foreign ministers takes place Wednesday, April 26. A statement from the organization says the USA and 15 other nations called for the session. The ruling was later partially reversed amid a storm of worldwide criticism.
Thousands of red-shirted Maduro supporters marched in the state of Falcon on Tuesday, chanting pro-government slogans and denouncing the opposition for violence.

The two killings raised to 23 the number of deaths linked to unrest that began nearly a month ago over the Supreme Court's decision to gut the opposition-controlled congress of its powers.
Venezuela's chief prosecutor is calling on Venezuelans on both sides of the political spectrum to refrain from violence as the number of deaths continues to rise. While the country lacks food and medicine, the opposition strategy aims to force early general elections.
No country has ever withdrawn from the OAS since it was created in 1948 and it's unclear how complicated the process would be.
