Pats RB White gets 3-year extension

White, a third-year running back who was inactive for the 2014 Super Bowl, had his best game of the season in the Pats' championship-clinching comeback against Atlanta, catching a record 14 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 29 yards and two more TDs, including the victor in overtime.

After a career year and record-breaking performance in the Super Bowl, James White has signed a three-year extension with the Patriots, ESPN.com reported Tuesday.

The New England Patriots have set 24 new records during Super Bowl LI.

After presiding over the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted, "Every Indian is special". This was one of the first decisions that Captain Amarinder Singh took when he became Punjab Chief Minister last month.

As for the 5-foot-10, 205-pound White, he fills the "passing back" role in the Patriots' offense, which is significant given how often the team throws the football.

James White reportedly is now signed through 2020. Even when he doesn't make the play, he feels worse about it than you do.

Though the Patriots defense got the stops it needed and Tom Brady received a bulk of the credit, the finishing touches on the Super Bowl win from this past season came courtesy of White, who scored the game-winning touchdown on a 2-yard run. "He's just the best teammate". That's more than Kevin Faulk, whose high was 58, and Shane Vereen, whose high was 52. He was scheduled to be a free agent after this season, so the Patriots have their third-down back for several more years. White was due to become a free agent after the 2018 season, so he'll be with the Patriots until 2021, assuming he isn't cut or traded. They now could have three backs making more than that in 2017. We expanded on the running back situation below.
