Honda launches WR-V at Rs. 7.75 lakh


"We are confident that WR-V will help us to fortify our premium image in all segments", Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India, said. The WR-V has two interior colour themes - Urban Casual: Black and Bluish grey seat fabric and Urban Sophisticated: Black & Silver seat fabric. On the exterior, the new Honda WR-V is equipped with larger headlamps with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and fog lamps and gets a revised front fascia.

Japanese auto major Honda Cars on Thursday unveiled its compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Honda WR-V priced between ₹7.75 lakh and ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

India is the first country to manufacture and launch the Honda WR-V in the world. Motivation for this pint-sized crossover comes from the same engine options as the Jazz - a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. It also gets Honda's new 7-inch Digipad infotainment system, push-start smart entry system, cruise control for the diesel models, voice command controls on the steering wheel, and an enlarged information display on the instrument panel, multi-functional steering wheel, advanced multi-information combi-meter and much more. The WR-V is Honda's attempt to mimic the compact crossover and carries a sub-2litre engine on both the platforms.

Honda launched two variants, each, in petrol and diesel. The model will compete with the likes for Ford's EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza. Safety features are more or less standard and includes- ABS with EBD, Dual SRS airbags, immoblizer, front and rear defogger, Day night IRVM and brake override system.

The petrol variants are powered by 1.2 litre engine while the diesel versions come with 1.5 litre powertrains. The other one is a diesel engine which is 1.5 litre IDTEC unit putting out 99 bhp of power with 200 Nm of torque while mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while delivering a best in class fuel efficiency of 25.5 kmpl.
