Claudio Ranieri 'turned down Wolfsburg job'

The owners are minded to keep him as No. 2 if they opt for a new manager in the summer, but Shakespeare is likely to want assurances that he would not be sidelined.

Former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri reportedly turned down the chance to become manager of Wolfsburg as the offer came too soon after his shock sacking.

Craig Shakespeare was Claudio Ranieri's assistant and was put in temporary charge of Leicester after the Italian was sacked last month.

Craig Shakespeare has a 100 per cent record as caretaker manager of outgoing English champions Leicester, winning against Liverpool and Hull in his two games in charge.

A joint team of the local police, Government Railway Police and Rapid Police Force is investigating the matter. The government announced a compensation of Rs 50000 for the critically injured and Rs 25000 for the injured.

Leicester's next game is at home against Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday 14 March, followed by a trip to the London Olympic Stadium to play West Ham in the Premier League. The Foxes are trying to overturn a 1-2 deficit.

Shakespeare offers continuity with Nigel Pearson, having served as assistant to the mercurial manager, whose time in charge set the foundations for Leicester's title-winning campaign past year.

Improved terms are also likely to be offered.

Leicester are yet to confirm Shakespeare's appointment until the end of the season, but an announcement is anticipated when the club return from a warm-weather training break in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday. As a coach and a manager it is more of a mental thing. I've made sure that I've asked the players just to focus on a game at a time and I need to do that as well.
