Marseille sign veteran defender Evra from Juventus

Patrice Evra is now travelling to Olympique Marseille to undergo a medical after agreeing a deal with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Juventus have released a touching tribute to the club's departing full-back Patrice Evra following the Frenchman's transfer to Marseille.

Evra joined Juventus from Manchester United as a free agent in summer 2014 and has played 82 games with the Serie A giants, scoring three goals.

The experience that Evra has is something that will not only improve Marseille on the pitch, but it adds something invaluable to the dressing room, and that's a winning mentality and a experience in the big situations. "He's a great player".

Marotta was asked who will replace Evra in the Juventus squad.

"He had a great two and a half seasons with us", Allegri said after Juve secured an Italian Cup semi-final spot, against Napoli, following a 2-1 win over 10-man AC Milan on Wednesday. "He's a great champion, a great professional and I'm sorry he's left", he said.

Evra was quoted as saying by French outlet Foot Mercato: "I came to Marseille, I spoke with the leaders, but I have not asked who is coming or who is not coming".

Evra is expected to pen an 18-month deal to return to France for the first time since leaving AS Monaco back in 2006.
