US halts it diplomatic mission in Turkey after Russian ambassador murder

Karlov died on Monday after being shot multiple times at an art exhibition in the Turkish capital Ankara.
Russian Federation is a close ally of the regime in Turkey's neighbor, Syria, and is waging an airstrikes campaign there.
The assassination was captured by Associated Press photographer Burhan Ozbilici.
Russian president Vladimir Putin said the attack was "undoubtedly" aimed at disrupting the normalisation of relations between the two countries, which warmed over the summer.

The shooting happened a day before Iranian, Turkish and Russian diplomats met to discuss the situation in Aleppo.
Russian and Turkish officials have been working together to resolve the refugee crisis in Aleppo, caused, in part, by Russian air strikes on Syrian rebels.
